Fees

You pay only for an executed trade. Deposits, withdrawals and payouts of winnings are free.

Principles

  1. A fee is charged only on a trade, at the moment it is executed. Deposits, withdrawals and payouts of winnings are free.
  2. Nothing is debited from your wallet separately: the fee is withheld automatically on the protocol side when the order is executed.
  3. Network gas is paid for you — you don't need to hold POL (MATIC).

What the fee consists of

Order typePlatform feeLiquidity fee
Market (you take liquidity)1%at the category rate, see below
Limit (you add liquidity)00

1. Platform fee — 1% of the executed market trade amount. Limit orders don't pay it. This is MELBO's only revenue.

2. Liquidity fee. It goes not to the platform but to the liquidity providers of the third-party protocol on which trades are executed. Only market orders pay it.

A limit order that executes immediately at a price already available in the order book counts as a market order.

How the liquidity fee is calculated

Formula: category rate × price × (1 − price) × number of shares.

It follows from the formula that in dollars the fee peaks at a price of 50¢ and decreases toward the edges. Example: a market buy of 100 shares at 50¢ in a crypto market (a $50 trade) — the fee is $1.75; the same 100 shares at 90¢ — $0.63.

Full example

A market buy of "Yes" for $50 (100 shares at 50¢, "Crypto" category):

  • platform fee: 1% × $50 = $0.50
  • liquidity fee: $1.75
  • total fees: $2.25

The same purchase as a limit order at 50¢: platform fee 0, liquidity fee 0.

What you don't pay

  • No fee on winnings.
  • No fee on deposits or withdrawals, whatever the amount (the minimum trade is $1).
  • No gas fees.
  • No hidden fees: nothing is withheld beyond what is listed above.
